Strengthening Community Participation in Early Warning, Prevention of Violent Extremism in the selected Municipalities of Lanao del Sur

The project is all about to strengthen the participation of community members in the implementation of early warning, prevention, and response systems for the prevention of violent extremism in the eight (8) municipalities of Lanao del Sur. Also, the projects intend to achieve the following objectives: a) to establish community security platforms, including early warning and early response (EWER) teams, in selected barangays in the eight (8) target municipalities; b) to promote culture of peace through peace education and advocacy campaign; c) to strengthen the local bodies in addressing presence of armed groups and resolving conflicts in the municipalities; d) to capacitate the participating barangays with EWER mechanisms in preventing violent extremism, including training corresponding LGU personnel in community awareness during natural and human-made disasters; e) to establish EWER monitoring and reporting system in the respective participating barangays from the eight (8) municipalities; and f) to support community dialogues in identifying community peace and security threats and allowing them to identify proposed solutions.
