SDG Parallel Report Writing - International Disability Alliance (IDA)

The Philippines presented its 3rd Voluntary National Review of its implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals during the High-Level Political Forum in July 2022. In line with this, Nationwide Organization of Visually-Impaired Empowered Ladies (NOVEL) and Life Haven Center for Independent Living is producing a parallel report that gives an assessment of the progress made by the Philippine’ government and its compliance to the principles set by the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. This report is a compilation of data and evidence grounded on the lived experiences and observations of the sector of persons with disabilities. It puts forward concrete recommendations that will help in advancing the rights of the sector and ensure that no Filipino with disability will be left behind. Aside from the government, this narrative is targeted to reach other civil society organizations, the academe, the private sector, and the general public; to create more visibility and build alliances. The process of developing the parallel report was a great opportunity for organizations of persons with disabilities to enhance their capacity; to become more vigilant in monitoring the commitments made by the State; and to be more engaged in local, national, and international advocacy
