Brief Description

The project is entitled Training Course on Spatial Data Production, Assessment and Analysis, and Remote Sensing with Applications in Environmental Assessment, Natural Hazards, and Geoheritage Conservation or ReSSDA is a hybrid training course, combining online lectures and hands-on onsite instruction. Aimed at increasing capacity of the Bohol Provincial Environment Management Office (BPEMO) and the Bohol Island Geopark Office, CeNS volunteer experts and scientists who have vast experience as professionals in their respective fields of practice, provided training on topics of basics in remote sensing and spatial data production, assessment and analysis, and the application of these to environmental assessment, natural hazards and geoheritage conservation. Actual field data acquisition using conventional and digital tools is also an integral part of the training. The first module, which covered the basic introductory course on GIS and remote sensing applications, was conducted virtually in September 2022 with 11 trainees. The second module was conducted in Bohol last December 2022. Hands-on training of QGIS and other different web-based and android digital applications were based on the technical needs of BPEMO’s various technical divisions which include Forest Management Division, Water Management Division, Coastal Resource Management Division, Environmental Rehab and Waste Management. Certificates of completion were given to all participants who completed training course.
