Green Badge Uniform Upcycling Drive

Every 18 months, Maynilad issues a new set of logo-branded uniforms to more than 3,000 employees, prompting the disposal or storage of the old set. Since the uniforms cannot be worn outside the employee’s line of work, nor should it be worn once a new set is issued, most employees have to dispose their old uniforms on their own. In some instances, the old uniforms have been distributed as hand-me-downs, worn when one is not performing an official function, or worse, when one is not an employee. These old uniforms were even used for extortions and other scams. Green Badge aims to upcycle old, unusable Maynilad uniforms by converting them into new items like the retaso tote bag. The new retaso bags serve as an incentive for employees who donate their uniforms and unused clothes.
