Brief Description
The Hapag Kalinga project was established to capitalize on idle property owned by the Company to plant and grow vegetables and other root crops for distribution to its employees. The pandemic has brought in restrictions which impeded the proper purchase of food in the secondary and tertiary markets due to the risk of exposure to both asymptomatic and symptomatic individuals. As a result of government limitations as well on the distribution of food subsidies to people through the barangays, not all residents have been provided the much-needed assistance to mitigate the impact of the pandemic. Considering these factors, the Company has created its own team of volunteers to convert idle property as urban gardens using both traditional methods and hydroponics to give employees for free for every harvest. This is in addition to rice subsidy extended to all monthly in order to address and bridge the gap towards ensuring that they and their families remain healthy and their welfare provided for.
