The Balik Likha program was established to tap the creativity of homegrown talents in the creation of new and reusable items from excess non-recyclable waste such as wood, plastics, wires, and paints. Considering the large volume of waste produced by the Company and the absence of any method or means of disposal either singly or through partnerships with other companies or institutions, the Company has decided to upcycle these materials to not only give new value to the waste but also embed a sense of value in materials among employees for what could otherwise be deemed as excess to be thrown away, provide an outlet outside the productive hours of work to divert them from the emotional stress and apprehension of the pandemic, tap into their inner talent to transform materials into furniture, and reduce costs in the purchase of new furniture so that the savings could be used to subsidize other Company programs and employee benefits.
