Brief Description
The project will protect and promote the human rights of Filipino migrant workers through the target community-based migrant organizations and local governments. They will be. (1) equipped and capacitated on labor migration from a human rights and gender-responsive framework; (2) get acquainted and familiar with migration governance, particularly how migrants’ rights are expressed in laws and policies (national, cross-border local); and (c) how these may be used to protect their rights and improve the ability to access legal remedies by migrant workers. The project will also contribute to the creation of an enabling social and legal environment in the community that will promote safe, fair and ethical recruitment and advocate for sound sustainable gender-responsive reintegration and livelihood programmes by reaching out to other relevant stakeholders through public forums and round table discussions. The project will invest in capacitating and equipping a core network of stakeholders and duty bearers at the community on migrants rights that will create and promote a culture of rights and legal empowerment of migrant workers.
